Essential Convention Makeup Kit

I originally titled this post “Emergency Convention Makeup Kit” but decided that it’s not really an emergency kit – it’s vital for cosplay.

It’s also important to only take what you absolutely need – carting around a lot of stuff is both bulky and tiresome.

The makeup kit will vary depending on the cosplay, but I thought I’d give an idea of what I typically bring with me for a full day of being the Red Queen.

Clockwise from upper left:

A. Revlon Colour Stay lipstick: to touch up my red lip heart
B. Ben Nye Neutral Set setting powder: used to absorb sweat and prevent further creasing or smearing of my white makeup
C. Smoky and Angle eye shadow brushes: for touching up large areas of white, and the blue on my eyelids respectively
D. Compact dual magnification mirror: in case I can’t get to a washroom or I want to touch my face up standing in line, or sitting before a panel
E. Maybelline Line Stiletto black waterproof eyeliner: to touch up my bottom “lashes”
F. Annabelle red lip liner: in case the edges of my red lip heart need assistance
G. Annabelle (switched to MAC) white eyeliner: good for filling in areas white has migrated out of
H. Small eye shadow brush: excellent to reapply cream white in between black lower lashes
I. MAC custom mixed cyan: just in case my eyelids get a bit flakey
J. Ben Nye cream white: used in tandem with the larger makeup brushes to reapply white to larger areas
K. Bobby pins: just like real hairdos, wigs get stray hairs and sometimes need taming throughout the day

I also keep a handful of cotton swabs with me to combat my perpetually runny nose, and some tissues to gently blot sweat.
