Organization Will Set You Free

If you’re a fan of the Tv cooking show “Good Eats” hosted by Alton Brown, you’ll be familiar with the title of this post. I firmly believe this to be true and I finally managed to get around to organizing my cosplay stuff.

Living in a 600 square foot apartment, I’d been tucking bits of cosplay construction materials, costume items, wigs, props, and the like about my living space, and subsequently never knew where anything was. It was driving me mental so I decided it was time to get all my cosplay stuff in to a couple plastic bins and be done with it.

I managed to turn this:

Into this:

I used two 72L (19Gal) plastic bins, and two smaller ones to hold my sewing stuff like thread, etc. and other small items like beads and paints. I chose ones that had locking handles to ensure that the lids wouldn’t come off during transit to conventions.

I also store my wigs on wig heads, and I cover each wig and head with a garbage bag for storage. This keeps the dust off them and ensures that things don’t get tangled in the wig, and the wig doesn’t get damaged.

How do you organize your cosplay stuff?
