Red Queen Wig 2.3

I settled in tonight to size both my Red Queen and Pandaren wigs, only to realize that they don’t need resizing! Yay!

I turned my attention instead to carving heart halves out of the dry floral oasis I picked up at the dollar store.

First, I drew half of a heart on a piece of 8 1/2″ x 11″ printer paper, folded horizontally.

Next, I used an unsharpened pencil to trace the heart outline on to both pieces of oasis. I had to press pretty hard to make a noticeable indent in the foam.

Retiring to the balcony for some quality time whittling foam, I used an old kitchen knife (sharpened) to gently remove all the foam that I didn’t want.

Once I had both halves carved out, I cut the bottom bits off each half. This is where each foam piece will be attached to the wig.

The  heart pieces are a bit flat on the sides, and are grey not red, but neither will be noticeable once the wig is curled, piled on top, and spray painted. The foam is for basic shape, stability, and a medium to attach the curls to.

Have you tried your hand at a gravity defying wig?

What did you use to achieve the desired look?
