This wig arrived with my Red Queen update wig, but I only have one wig head at the moment, so I had to wait until I started steaming the red wig to begin work on my Pandaren Monk (World of Warcraft) wig. The wig I bought is from Arda Wigs, and it’s called “Matilda – Black (064)”.
It’s a curly wig, but it’s about the length I wanted, so I’m straightening it before I put it up in a high ponytail.
After pinning the wig to the wig head with straight pins (and trimming the lace front to ¼” like I did with the Red Queen wig), I sectioned off a small amount of hair, clipping the rest with two claw clips.
I used a Revlon hair straightener to straighten it (this wig is heat resistant it’s able to take a small amount of heat from styling wands). My straightener has a 0-30 setting (no degrees; my high school calculus teacher always said ‘degrees are for commoners’), so I set it at 10 since I wanted it warm enough to relax the hair but not hot enough that it would melt.
I slowly (but quickly enough the hair didn’t melt) ran the straightener the length of the hair fromroot to tip several times, and then held each section of hair straight while it cooled using a wide tooth comb (the straightening sets during the cooling process).
I clipped the curled ponytail clip (Long Curly Clip – Black (064) to the stand I’m also using to steam my red wig, and used the same method of straightening on theponytail clip that I used on the full wig. After that, I detached theponytail clip before I put the wig, andponytail outside to cool fora couple hours.
I’m leaving the wig and ponytail clip to fully cool over night and I will re-straighten it tomorrow if needed before proceeding.
